My loves

Happy birthday Kevin!

Fish food

This is my favorite fish!

Come visit!!

For Kevin's birthday, we had lunch at the Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. This is an awesome place! They have flowers and fish and meat and vegetables and crafts... All year round!

She's come undone

The last 10 weeks, I have been working part-time at SPU, teaching one class. In that 10 weeks, a layer of grime and dust have permeated the entire house. The kitchen has never actually been completely clean this whole quarter. Here is proof. Notice the half empty dishwasher. Is it clean or dirty? Who knows. Luckily, next week is finals and I will finally have time to clean once I get all my grading done.

One more step down the slippery slope...

Today is Kevin's birthday! He got a wallet, a shirt, the Western Garden Book, a BBQ smoker and a really cute baby. More pictures to come!

Thank you, Auntie Vicki!

Elena finally fits into her new outfit from Auntie Vicki. She wears her sweater everyday when she goes out!

Morning antics

Mornings are the best time for Elena's various expressions and poses. I also love the morning hair-do!

Hide and Seek

Here are some pictures of the team as they hiked through the Olympic forest. Beautiful! Anyone want to come and visit?

The Adventures of Kevin!

Last weekend, Kevin and three of his friends climbed this huge scary mountain called "The Brothers." It was horrible weather; it snowed on them during the entire summit climb! But they made it-- hooray!

Mother's Day

This was my first mother's day. Kevin bought me a pink dogwood tree and we planted it in front of the house in honor of Elena and me. What a wonderful gift! Here we are next to our tree on our way to breakfast at the Blue Onion and church at Blessed Sacrament. I am so incredibly happy to be mother to this wonderful darling girl. It is a dream come true!

cause and effect

I got Elena a Strawberry Shortcake helium balloon at the grocery store this weekend and tied it to her foot. It took her a few minutes to realize the power she had, and then proceded to spend the next 20 mintues kicking away, pleased as punch.

Just add milk

What a difference two months make! The first picture is Elena at 6-weeks-old, and the second was taken yesterday, at 13-weeks-old! So, either the cat is shrinking or my baby is getting big! Notice how happy Obie is to just hang out with the baby. He is truly the best cat ever.

Home sweet home

This is our house. It is a 1926 1 1/2 story Seattle Bungalow. Everyone needs to admire the lovely parking spot that Kevin has built for me! It is almost done! We love our house a lot, if it weren't for the huge intersection outside. We are planning to build a big wall around the house to sheild us from the traffic. Whenever we talk about building walls, I always think of that stupid song we used to sing with Ms. Witten in 8th grade choir: "....tear them down! All the walls that divide us! We won't stop till the work is done, till love and peace unite us!" And then I break out into jazz hands.

The Safe Way to the Safeway

I can't seem to figure out how to buy groceries for more than one dinner when I go to the grocery store, so I end up going almost everyday. Call this stupidity or laziness-- or call this being "European"! When it is nice out, Elena and I walk to the grocery store, which is only a few blocks away. Here is the view from our front doorstep to our huge intersection and Lake Krentz beyond. Lake Krentz is actually a resevoir with drinking water, but we like to ignore the barbed wire fence surrouding it and imagine that it is a perfectly square fresh water lake that we have just decided never to swim in. This is not unlikely, since we hate cold water!

This "Push for SIgnal" box is actually right on our property, so I like to think that we own it. When ever I am waiting for a sign from God, I go out and push it, just in case.

Here is our glorious SAFEWAY. It is source of all good, safe things. Whenever I am wondering which way to go in life, I consider the SAFEWAY.

Ellie-roo-ya

Here is our sweet girl cooing to the heavens. The first week she was born, we started calling her "Roo" from the camp song that goes "Allelu, Allelu, Allelu, Alleluia! Praise ye the Lord!" Except we would sing, "Ellie-roo, ellie-roo, ellie-roo, ellie-rooya! Praise ye the Lord!" So, "Roo" she became! Now Roo cooes and it is the most wonderful sweet sound you have ever heard.

Battle of the genes

Who does Elena look like? I still think she looks a whole lot like Kevin. Does that mean she'll act more like me?

Cutie Pie

Some recent Elena shots...
We love her a lot!
