Too much education for anyone's good. Kevin's degree is officially "Doctorate of Musical Arts (D.M.A.).

The restaurant chooses all its wines "blind," then averages the price and offers all wines for $35 each. No wine list-- just browse and choose.

The Gaylords and Chris at Elemental, on our second bottle of wine.

Congratulations, Kevin!! On Friday, he successfully defended his dissertation entitled, "Vibrato on the Cello:
I can't actually remember what came after the colon, but it was impressive sounding." We went out for a fabulous dinner after his defense at a restaurant called "Elemental"-- actually, Elemental was rented out for the night, so we went to its sibling venue: "Elemental Next Door: Same Food, Less Attitude." We ordered just about everything on the menu, plus three bottles of wine. It was all fantastic-- everything from the truffle oil popcorn to the lamb with gnocchi to the crab ravioli to the shockingly amazing rice pudding. YUM! Then, to make this perhaps the best graduation weekend ever, last night we drove the motorcycle down to the International District and had sensational Chinese dumplings, then went to see U2, live at the football stadium on a spectacularly lovely, warm, evening. It was a beautiful day!! The kids were thrilled to spend TWO evenings with their favorite nanny from years past, Becca, and Kevin and I got some serious grown-up-fun time.
